Winner of the Entry to WHM and Some Tough News for me!

I am getting the bad news out of the way! I ran a 10K yesterday, and I knew something bad was going on. I was having pain in my achilles tendon during the run. It hurt A LOT. I knew it wasn't normal hurt!

I went home and iced it immediately hoping that it would magically disappear. It tightened up more yesterday and today it was worse. I knew I needed to go to the doctor. The last thing I want is to make it worse. I need it to heal quickly!!!

Well the doctor confirmed my suspicions. He thinks it's tendonitis. I am going to do PT and go back in 2 weeks. I have to wear this boot for 2 weeks.  No running for 2 weeks at least!!!

I am scared! I have finally gotten to a point that I don't HATE running. I don't want to lose my almost like for running. I don't want to lose the ground I have gained and I don't want to gain the weight I have lost.

This is really the first injury of my life, so I guess I just need to be thankful. This will pass. Thank you to everyone for all of the sweet words you have shared! I know it could be worse! Thank you!!!

Here's a shot of the "Heel striker" right there...

And the winner is:
The winner of the Women's Half Marathon Entry is
RENEE T.  Congratulations!!!!
Send me a message with your email and address. I am excited that you will be joining me at this race!!!

And last but not least, my vlog! You will get to meet my boyfriend... okay, not really, but you should watch! It's long, but you will leave happy! (Did I convince you to watch???)

  1. Don't worry abt losing fitness in 2 weeks. It's a very short time and it will actually help your body recover. Once you like running, you are in it for life :)

  2. Agree with Smitha! We all have that fear (and I was a heel striker too :-(). Definitely get into cross training - if you can't put weight on your foot, I can't recommend water running enough - it's the closest you can come to real running, and it keeps your strength and fitness up! Much love xx

  3. Oh no Mindy so sorry about your tendonitis! I hope you get back to running soon!!

  4. Great vlog! Voice adds so much! I'm very sorry to hear of your tendinitis!!! Do your best to rest it! I'll be praying for u! Spa love!

  5. Happy thoughts your way chica! stay focused and you'll be out of the boot in no time! :)

  6. Rest up and take care!! You're super strong so you'll be just fine ;)

  7. So sorry about your injury girl! But guess what? YOU'RE A RUNNER!!! :-) You most definitely are girl and unfortunately injuries are a part of it. Two weeks isn't bad...heal up and you'll be back out there even better than before!!!

  8. awwww sorry about your foot! keep your head up and heal fast! (:

  9. That is so horrible. I had a really awful case of tendinitis and bursitis(both a once) that knocked me out for 3 months.
However, the good news is that I took it easily, followed doctors orders, and now I don't really have problems with it any more.
Hopefully yours is just a mild case and you will get better soon.

  10. Oh man, I definitely feel for you! You will get through this, though. I don't know one runner, who has been running for any length of time, who hasn't had to wear "the boot."
