Run for Your Lives! Zombie Preparedness Team Member: Mindy Artze
Yep, you read that correctly! I am a member of the ZPT, Zombie Preparedness Team. I hope I can handle it! I won't lie to you, zombies freak me out!
Run for Your Lives is a 5K obstacle race like no other and they take place all over the country! I LOVE obstacles races, but this one brings on a whole new challenge that I will admit I am a bit fearful of. Zombies will be chasing me in order to get my flags. Yes, that is right... Zombies... chasing... EHH!!!
Zombies will be chasing all of the racers trying to snatch their brains (which will actually be flags tied around their waists) before they reach the finish line of this 5K obstacle race. People will be in zombie costumes, and from what I understand, the crazier the costume, the juicier the brain... (I just made that up... sorry could not resist.) But I do LOVE the idea of dressing up like a zombie! Creepy! But fun!
The best part of this race is that it is really about teamwork. It's not about being first, it's about getting to the finish line with flags. So staying with your team, in a pack is going to be the best bet. The rules of the event clearly state that Zombies aren't allowed to touch the racers, so that is a bit of a relief.
Since I began CrossFit at CrossFit Blackbeard, I have a newfound toughness and strength. I feel that I can accomplish anything, so this race was something I had to do... I have to cross this off my bucket list. And I will!

I've been begging them to come to my area since I found this race. I actually just suggested 2 possible sites for their 2014 schedule. I wish that there was one closer to me so I could enter. :-(ReplyDelete
I wish there was too... Why don't you join me in Orlando :)Delete
I just did a local mud/obstacle race, never done a zombie race, seems like so much fun.ReplyDelete

Awesome! Keep tweeting! You are really helping your odds :)Delete
I haven't. I've been wanting to do this one ever since I heard about it.ReplyDelete
Me too... kind of... I really wanted to do it last year. But I chickened out. I couldn't find anyone to do it with me. This year is different! :) Good luck!Delete
I can't wait to run this event! My friend ran it and said it was awesome!!ReplyDelete
That is awesome. I am a little nervous but it will be awesome! Looking forward to it! Good luck!Delete
I've done Run for Your Lives before, as a zombie and a racer. It's a ton of fun (although, I will say, there is some contact between zombie and racer - hard to reach for a flag from a fleeing runner without some occasional collisions!)ReplyDelete
That makes sense! I look forward to doing this and learning more about it. Which was more fun? Being the zombie or being the runner?Delete
I haven't done a zombie run yet. But there is a similar one coming up in august in seattle.ReplyDelete
Yes there is. There is actually a giveaway on Run For Your Lives Facebook page for 2 free entries... check it out!Delete
This looks amazing! I love OCRs but zombies take it to a whole other level!ReplyDelete
Also-I would totally join you in Orlando!! I'm in Tampa :)Delete

I am doing my first obstacle race next weekend - the Lozilu 5k women's mud run in St. Louis with some friends. BUT, I really wanted to do the zombie run last year and couldn't, so no matter what, it's on this year!ReplyDelete
Best of luck next weekend. You will love it!Delete
I'm already signed up for this one! Both as a runner and a zombie :) If I win can I register my son to run?ReplyDelete
