Featured Blogger: Meet Alicia from Never Been Skinny and join my #dietbet

Meet my friend Alicia.  And join my DietBet to start off New Year's right!
https://www.dietbetter.com/games/33484

 Name: Alicia
State: California ( the Southern Part ^_~ )

Alica's story stands out to me. She is working so hard to achieve her goals. She, like me, is just starting Weight Watchers. I look forward to reading all about her successes!

When and why did you start working out?
I got tired of being over weight. I just don't have it all figured out but every day I workout is a day where I make a change in my body.
What is your workout of choice? - I don't really have a preference. I tried Bikram Yoga (hot yoga) and never thought I would like it...I fell in love with it...its just not a winter activity (to much sweat and too cold outside). I have gotten into my running (which is really a jog) and have done several 5K's. I like trying new things.

What is your favorite race, race distance, and WOD?
My favorite race so far my first 5k I ever did. It was on 1/1/2013 and I was still slightly hungover from the New Years Eve Party. It was cold, it was hard but that day I proved to myself I could do 3.1 miles!

Do you follow any diet or take any specific supplements that complement your workouts?
I try to take my shakeology everyday. It is an amazing shake and since I don't like getting up in the morning its an easy make and I can stay in bed longer.

What is your favorite cheat food?
Sweets. Anything sweets which is why I have gone on a sweet detox to help me to stop craving them so much.

What advice would you give someone just starting out?
Don't quit. Even if it doesn't look like you are making progress, and trust me I know that feeling, you are. It may be inches, weight, endurance, or a move you haven't been able to do before, but the change is there.

What is your best workout memory?
I was doing Shaun T's Hip Hop Ab's for about a week, and my relatively fit hubby decides to join me. Half way in he is huffing and puffing while I am able to continue with all the exercises non stop. It was at that moment that I saw that sticking with something, even as short as a week, really does make a difference.

What is your biggest “FIT BUCKET LIST” item?
My biggest and greatest on my list is to wear for Halloween a Princess Leia Slave Costume (I am a huge Star Wars fan and have been for years). This is my ultimate Bucket Item!

Tell us something that not many people know about you?
I don't like chocolate. Well my friends know this but not my readers. When I was younger I was I couldn't have dark chocolate or it would give me an allergic reaction. Nowadays I don't even like the taste of dark chocolate.

Meet Amy @dancngurl02 She knows it's all about the journey!

I had the pleasure of meeting Amy last summer at FitBloggin'. Amy is a ball of energy and is always smiling. She is one of those people that you think life has just been easy for. She is a great runner and very fit. As an overweight person, it was my first impression that she has always been that way. I learned that that was not true. Amy has had her struggles, and no matter how hard it gets, she perseveres!  Read all about her here!

Name: Amy
State: California

from Amy's facebook page
When and why did you start working out? I've been active for most of my life. I was a dancer from a very young age, but after college I went into the real world and all of a sudden my time for dancing and working out went away. I was working 7 days a week most weeks and up to 14-15 hour days. Working out became something that took away from resting and recovering for the next long day. In 2010, I was a bridesmaid in my cousins wedding. Twice the size of every other bridesmaid and had hit 220+ on the scale. I was ashamed. I hid from the camera that weekend. And when I came home and made the choice to get healthy. Eat healthy and start walking. Doing little things to improve myself. It's been a hard 3 years since then but I've changed my life and I don't ever intend to go back.
after Dumbo Dare
What is your workout of choice? I do a lot of things. Running, Weight Training, Yoga, Hot Yoga, Barre, Dance, Walking. I like to mix it up to keep it interesting. Test your bodies in different ways and keep it from getting boring. When I get bored or overtired of one activity I add in something else.
What is your favorite race, race distance, and WOD? I think I love my half marathons most. They're a great test. Constantly challenging me even though I've done so many. But I like to toss it up. The full marathon is one I'm trying to conquer more. But I also want to focus on shorter distances and getting faster. Every year brings a new decision on where and what I want to focus my efforts on :)
What is your most favorite piece of workout gear? My lululemon tops. They fit well and have great breathability!
Do you follow any diet or take any specific supplements that complement your workouts? I take Whey Protein or Quest bars post workout to help
What is your favorite cheat food? Peanut butter! I'm addicted!
What advice would you give someone just starting out? Take it one day at a time. Do WHAT you can WHEN you can. Don't try to tack on too much at the beginning. Because if you don't achieve it you will often get down on yourself and then give up. So just do little changes as you can! As long as you're better than you were the day before you're making progress!
What is your best workout memory? I don't know if I could choose one. Every achievement is different. I remember when I completed my first half marathon. Crying the last quarter mile because I was ACTUALLY doing it. And the same with my first full marathon. When I reached mile 25 I KNEW it was happening. But I get emotional with a lot of my races. Every one reminds me of how far I've come in my journey. Every race is a different battle. And now every time I hit the gym and reach a new goal (whether its reps or weight) I remind myself of how hard I've worked to get here. Even the days I don't hit my goal or have a rough workout. Those days are sometimes even better. They humble you and remind you that you still have work to do. Always room to improve yourself!
What is your biggest “FIT BUCKET LIST” item? Ironman. This is a huge one for me. I've done a half and full marathon. I'm looking into triathlons now and cycling. I want to do a full ironman by the time I'm 35. The ultimate test of endurance and heart.

Tell us something that not many people know about you?
I'm kinda dorky. I love doing silly things and laughing all the time. I make fun of myself at every chance I can and say the quirkiest things without really meaning to. My dance students tell me all the time how silly I am. Being silly is when I'm at my best. When I take life too seriously I get down on myself. And that happens more often than I'd like it too. So trying to keep my quirkiness as much as possible is high on my life list :)

Time to Jump on the Weight Loss Train!!!

It's Time to Jump on the Weight loss Train...

This train is leaving the station, friends... again! As we wrap this first DietBet for Mindy's Fitness Journey, that totaled $15,765, another one is beginning! The Dietbet that is almost over right now has a Total weight lost of 2,908 pounds and we still have a little under a week! It's time to jump on this train folks! How nice is it to lose weight and make money. What this video to see how easy it is! This is legit.  I have already done 3 Dietbets. I am making money and having fun.  I also have a facebook group you can join for extra support.  Join Mindy's Diet Bet Support Group HERE!
Let me first tell you that I love to gamble, but I am THE WORST gambler in the history of the world. I would be better off skipping casinos and just flushing my money down the toilet. It's that bad!

But with the DietBet, I am in charge, and I WILL win! This can't even be considered gambling. I consider it an investment in myself.

Here is how it works:
1. Join my game: http://www.dietbet.com/games/14585
2. Two days before your games begins, you will be prompted to submit your official weigh in.  You will need a scale (preferably digital,) a camera or smart phone, and a full length mirror or someone who can take your picture. You will submit 2 photos.  One of you on a scale in "airport security attire" (I think that means they want you comfortable and appropriate... lol) and another of the scale's readout with your "secret" weigh in word. (you will do this same process when the bet ends. The secret word will be different.)  Your weight can be private, and NO ONE (not even me) sees your pictures. They WILL NOT be published.
3. Now all you need to do is lose 4% of your body weight.  So if you weigh 200 lbs, you only need to lose 8 lbs in 28 days... totally doable!!!

HOW WE PREVENT CHEATING:
From the official DietBet site.
We have a photo review process in which players submit proof of their initial and final weights to our team of Referees. We also have algorithms that detect unusual activity within a game or across games and use an auditing system where some players may be required to submit extra proof of their weight loss using: a Skype weigh-in with one of our Referees, a video weigh-in, or an in-person weigh-in at a location pre-approved by DietBet, such as a Walgreens or CVS clinic. If requested, you will have to submit further proof of your weight within 24 hours. Since weights fluctuate naturally, we allow up to 1% of your final weight as variance for your audited weigh-in only. This variance does not apply to the standard final weigh-in. Failure to comply will result in disqualification and forfeiture of your winnings and initial bet. You may also be banned from playing again and subject to other penalties. To see the legal fine print, click here.

There is no excuse!!! Get signed up now! Ok, we have a ton of excuses, right? I am too busy, I am a single mom with no time, my son has practice, I am tired, it's raining... It goes on and on.... Give me your best excuse for not working out... Leave it in the comments here :)

*disclosure: DietBet paid for my entry into this DietBet.

BET you can't lose weight! And WIN!!!

Bet you can't lose weight!!!  And win!
This photo is from TheStir.Cafemom.com

Have you ever wanted to gamble and be guaranteed to win? Me too! That is why I joined DietBet!
Well, with this gamble, you WILL win because the results are up to you. You are in control of whether you win or lose!

Well, it's legit! I have won 2 DietBets myself, and they have even been featured on the Today Show. Research out of the Mayo Clinic shows that when money is involved as an incentive, people will double their chances of losing weight. Join the bet with me.

All you have to do is pay $25. You can only win!!! Unless you give up on yourself, but none of you are going to do that right? You have 4 weeks to lose 4% of your body weight! EASY! Let's do this. The DietBet begins on April 8. It lasts for 4 weeks. Sign up today at http://dietbet.com/mindysfitnessjourney

Huge Giveaway Extravaganza Begins!!!

a Rafflecopter giveaway

Sunday

Wake up and do this! Plus 2 Giveaways!

So, I am feeling like what is happening here
is kind of a BIG DEAL!

I have planning a big giveaway on my facebook page, Mindy's Fitness Journey for when I get 5,000 likes. In the process of all of this I noticed that I am close to writing my 100th blog! That is big! I just started blogging in July, and I am really excited about that. I would love for you all to share my facebook page, Mindy's Fitness Journey with your friends. I am 300 away from the big giveaway. I am giving away a Polar Heart Rate Monitor. I also have 2 other exciting items, and few that are in the works. Thank you for always supporting me. You all make my life better! I mean that!

I appreciate that you all care enough to read my blog, page, twitter, instagram, tumblr and pinterest. I remember when I just had a personal facebook page. Life has definitely gotten busier, but I have gotten so much out of blogging. I have made friends, I have met so many new people and friends in the real world (not just the blogging world) I have had people lift me up when I am down, and you have allowed me to introduce Bryce to you. Thank you for that!

It also made me think that I need to get back to reporting in to you all about my workouts and my eating. I am doing a half marathon next month, and I need to run A LOT more than I already am. So I have decided that I am ready to share the good, the bad and the ugly with you. I am excited about the new ideas I have to improve my fitness and my nutrition. I will share as I go. I do share when things are  not going well, as you know, but I think I want to share more. I think I want you to see that I am someone on a journey. I am not perfect, and sometimes I have "food accidents!"

My goal is to lose 30 lbs. by Fit Bloggin' at the end of June.  I want to have an awesome before and "during" picture. It won't be an after yet because I need to lose more than 30. I am starting fresh today with my weight. As of today, I have lost no weight. I will weigh in every Sunday. At this point, I am too self-conscious to post my weight. Hopefully once I lose some, I will be more comfortable. I just know that there are haters who want me to fail and I don't want them to have ammunition. I hope you understand. (I am not referring to anyone in the fitness world, rather my own personal world)

What I have realized in the last few days is I have some emotional ties to food that I still have not conquered yet. I run to food when someone upsets me. Over the last month, I have caught myself making bad choices, and I know it's a result of people walking out of my life. I am hurt, but I also know that I need to move on and let go of the hurt, or it will consume me, or I will consume it... LOL... that was a joke!!! Anyways, I didn't realize it, but I fell back into an old pattern of turning to food for comfort. I have to break that habit! It is time to WAKE UP and DO THIS!
Here we go!
